Finally. A classic fox enamel pin. Although the fox is generally known for its sly and deceiving personality, this animal has become a positive and endearing symbol for me.

Why a fox?

In kindergarten, I went to a zoo and was introduced to the arctic fox. It fascinated me how the animal could change its color with its surroundings and I was mesmerized by its piercing black eyes on white fur. It was a beauty that I immediately wanted to draw but turned out to be way more difficult than I imagined. For years, I kept coming back to drawing arctic foxes and even moved onto its family of red foxes, but they never turned out the way I wanted them to.

One night, after finishing up my gesture studies in my first semester of collegiate art class, I pulled up a search of several foxes and sluggishly started drawing. After filling up a page, I froze out of confusion and pure joy. Fifteen years later and I finally drew a realistic fox of my standards. I was in awe. From then on, I started sharing my foxes with the world as a testament to my growth and as a tribute to 6-year-old me who never gave up. :)
